Hellooo world 🙂
Hope you guys are having an amazing weekend. We finally have some relief from the extreme heat. Thank you to the rain Gods! I bought a few things from Essence a while ago, I believe now is the time to start reviewing them. If you havent seen my haul, see it here. So far I have always had a good experience with the brand. The first time I saw their products was in Switzerland. Let’s move on the lipstick review 🙂
Price – 299/-
I have collected so many everyday/neutral shades that I thought it’s better to buy different colours now. I kind of expected this colour to be a little different but I like it nevertheless. It’s a soft berry colour that many different skintones can pull off. I have to say it’s very similar to my Maybelline Color Show in Midnight Pink ( see the review here ). If I had to compare the two, I would say this is a softer colour. It’s more sheer and needs to be build up for a very intense look.
The lipstick comes in a sturdy pblack plastic packaging. Nothing too extraordinary about it. The good part about these is that they have names instead of numbers like Lakme. I honestly dont understand how people still remember lipsticks by their numbers. I have such a hard time doing that. If it was upto me, I would go out and give all of them names 😛
The pigmentation on this one is medium. You definitely need to build it up for it to look more even. But the good part is that it does not look odd even after multiple coats of it. It would need about two swipes to cover up pigmented lips. The fragrance is a bit artificial if you understand what I mean. You know how some lipsticks smell like artificial flowery, I’m not sure sensitive noses would enjoy that too much. It does not linger on for too long so it should not be a very big problem.
Coming to the texture, it feels a tiny bit waxy but honestly at this price you cant really complain. It’s a bit on the glossy side, if you only love mattes, I wouldn’t suggest this one. The texture is kind of between a lip balm and a highly pigmented lipstick. It gives a very healthy look to your lips and hides the fine lines to a large extent. I think it also makes them look a bit more plump and full. IT gives them a bit of a sheen which looks very nice.
The lasting power is really good! I mean it stayed on for about 6 hours (includes one meal and drink). I wouldn’t say it looks very fresh even after 6 hours. It fades a little bit but there is still a good hint of the colour on your lips. If you top it off with a lip balm, it would look a lot more fresh. With this lipstick, I would stay not to smack your lips too much. I kept on doing it yesterday and it really didnt look flattering and some of the lipstick started crumbling and rolling around. Also if lip dryness is your problem then you should not reapply too often. It may end up looking unflattering. It’s better to take it all off and then reapply if needed. Certainly not transfer resistant inspite of being a long lasting one. It will transfer to cups and spoons, so beware!
Overall, I would say this is a very nice lipstick in this price range. If you are looking for an inexpensive long lasting lipstick then you would surely enjoy this.
