How to hide Dark circles!

Hey girls

So I am finally doing this post on dark circles that I have been meaning to do since so long. I have horrendous brown dark circles which make me look so tired all the time. I have had them since I was very young and I dont see them going away anytime soon. Te next best thing would be to hide them nicely. I have been trying so many different concealers and techniques to hide them but was never that satisfied until now. I have found the way that works the best for me. I think if you are suffering from bad dark circles that are a trouble to hide, this post may come in handy 🙂

The thing with medium to fair skin and dark circles is that you can never find something that does not make them look grey. If you match the concealer to your dark circles then they get covered but the under eye area looks so much darker than the rest of the face and if you match the concealer with your skin colour then the dark circles start  looking grey. Its such a hit and trial with some products. I remember sitting at MAC to get a concealer for my under eye and the MUA struggled so much. She first went to the darker shades like NC 42 or NC 45 and they covered them up for sure but my eye area was an entirely different colour compared to the rest of my face. After much struggle she asked for help from another MUA who gave me MAC Studio finish concealer in NC35. It did match a lot better than what she was trying and I bought it. I used that concealer for sometime while continuously searching for other methods to conceal too because my dark circles where still showing through that concealer.

It is then that I discovered colour correcting and the concept of Brown/Purple being corrected by Orange correctors. I ordered my very first corrector from Kryolan and have been using it since then (Reviewed here). Then came the matter of which colour concealer to use on top. I first tried a medium shade concealer which matched the rest of my face and while I was happy, I could not get the bright and awake under eye look. That is when I figured out that after using the corrector, the concealer that you use should be atleast 2-3 shades lighter than your skintone. I then got the Maybelline Fit me Concealer in the Lightest shade and found the perfect colour correcting method. Make sure the concealer that you use should have strong yellow tones instead of orange or pink since we already used the corrector underneath.

It is very very important to set your concealer with a good setting powder. The problem with using these products is that they tend to settles into the fine lines all the time. I always use a loose powder and use it in a Baking method because that keeps my undereye crease free all day long. The one I currently use is Ben Nye powder in the shade Buff. Although I am happy with this powder, I think it will be best to use something that does not have any colour of its own (like RCMA no colour powder) because we have already gotten the desired result with the corrector and concealer and dont want anything to alter the colour. Make sure the powder you use does not have flashback otherwise it will look horrible in pictures. I used to use my Flormar powder but it causes horrible flashback so I have stopped using it anymore.

The method I have described here is perfect for parties and special occasions because it gives you full coverage. For an everyday concealing, I would recommend using small quantities of everything otherwise all your products will be very very visible in direct sunlight.

I hope I explained everything well. If you have any questions feel free to ask me. The pictures are below showing how I do mine for weddings and parties 🙂 Also I kind of messed up my eyeliner doing this post, so please excuse that 🙂

  2. Very helpful post Harman 🙂 Very well put up!

  3. Loved the pictorial! I’m gonna look for kryolan corrector here. I usually use orange toned lipstick for correcting but I think buying a corrector would be a better option. 🙂 Gonna pick up the maybelline fit me Concealer too!!
