Lakme Absolute Matte in Pink Me Up review + FOTD

Hi Girls

I just got a newsletter from Nykaa in my email yesterday and I noticed that the Lakme Absolute Matte lipsticks are on sale! YAY! So I thought what better timing to have this review up for you guys. I had been wanting to get Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid lipstick in Carina since sometime but since it is hard to buy them here I decided to look for something similar. I had high hope from this collection by Lakme and I am happy to say that I am not disappointed. This is a nice hot pink (well between red and pink) that goes well with just about anything. Read on to know more about it.

Honestly I am a bit suprised that I have not seen many reviews of this colour online. I think it’s one of the most beautiful ones from this collection and is a must have. I’m such a lipstick hoarder, I literally want to buy new ones every week or so but I end up exercising some control hehe. I looked in my stash and could not find a hot pink red kind of a colour. I always tend to go out and buy neutral colours, I rarely experiment. But I went all out with this lipstick and I am so glad I did.

The packaging is very beautiful, it feels like an expensive lipstick. The clear glass top allows you to see the colours. Rest is just the regular twist up packaging.

The lipstick is a matte, as the name says. But it does not drag or pull on your lips unlike some other brands. It goes on very smoothly and even in just a single swipe. Does not tug on the lips and applies easily. The thing with matte lipsticks is, they get in the lip lines very easily so it is better to make sure that your lips are not chapped on the day you decide to put this one on. Proper exfoliation is a yes yes 🙂 I dont think you need a lip balm underneath since it’s not really a drying finish at all.

The colour is literally so hard to describe. It is between the red and pink spectrum and is one which adds instant brightness to your look. I think it would suit all skintones as it does not have too much of a neon effect to it. Once it goes on, it does not budge for atleast 5 hours. It does transfer onto things but the colour kind of stains your lips so it does not look patchy or uneven. I am super impressed with the staying power. It survived 5+ hours inspite of eating a complete meal. It comes off easily with any makeup remover.

The only problem I have with it is that if I put on too many coats on top of a lipliner, it kind of tends to roll up and crumble sort on my lips which is not very flattering. I would recommend you to only put on 2 coats if using without lip liner and just a single coat if used with a matching lip liner.

I think I just have good things to stay about this line of lipsticks. I would say if you are a matte lipstick lover this is one range that you simply have to try. I usually dont go out and buy any matte colours but this one is my absolute favourite and I think I may go out and buy a red from this range. If you have any suggestions let me know.
