Hello pretty people
I’m sure you have all seen the Kylie Jenner trend that is so popular right now. Actually it’s been a while since she brought the 90s lipstick trend back. I honestly always loved a darker natural finish lipstick. As soon as she posted pics of her sporting the 90s trend, the online world has gone crazy recreating her looks. That has even led to a lot of brands to come out with their versions of that matte 90s lipsticks. It is rumored that Mac’s lipliners in Whirl and Soar are the colours mostly used by her. Today I will be sharing a review of Soar with you all.
Price – 990/- earlier now available for 1190/- I believe
I can’t believe MAC is going higher and higher with their prices. I would never buy a lip pencil that needs to be sharpened every now and then for the new price point. One of the main reasons I bought this one was that they still had it available in the old stock. I thought it would be a good chance to try a lip pencil from MAC. I hate it when I have to sharpen it because I lose so much of the actual product. Why couldn’t they make a twist up form of it.
The colour is a beautiful Dusty Rose shade. It will be so perfect as a n*de for darker skin tones and would also look so good on the light skinned people. The colour is very universally flattering and would suit almost everyone. It can be worn alone or under a lipgloss/lipstick. Even worn alone with a lip balm gives such a polished nice look to the lips.
The texture is like a typical lip pencil. However it does not feel sticky on the lips unlike some others that I have tried. On pressing your lips together it does not feel like they are sticky. It lasts really long as well and does not dry out the lips. It’s easy to spread and covers the lips in a single swipe. You dont have to go over it again and again to make it look even. My lips are very cracked kinds so I always top it with a lip balm to make the lines look less obvious.
Overall, I love this lip pencil but I dont think I will be buying it again because honestly it is a bit expensive for a lip pencil plus there are a lot of drugstore options in the stores lately.
PROS:
1. Universally flattering colour
2. Lasts long
3. Non drying finish
4. Does not transfer
CONS:
1. Sharpening leads to so much wastage
2. Expensive
3. There are rumours that mac tests on animals
My rating – 4/5
See you all soon! x
