Hey girls
So you know I had to do this post right?! I mean this thing is everywhere ever since Nikkie Tutorials started using it. All credits of discovery go to her. So basically this is a men’s after shave balm which can be used as an inexpensive primer before you apply makeup on. Now I am personally not a very big primer person. I’m the kind who always forgets to use primer before my foundation. Almost every single time. Thanks to my skin genes I dont have too many pores or very loose skin which is maybe why I almost never use a primer. The only primer I have been using apart from this one is the Benefit Porefessional. I dont prefer using one everyday because I think it kind of clogs pores but I have heard that perhaps that extra layer is necessary between your skincare and makeup. What I think of this one? Read on to know.
Price- 235/-
I bought this from a nice supermarket store here. You wont believe, one day I just decided to get this thing no matter how many stores I had to go to. I missed the first one, the second was closed, they didnt carry this in stores three and four, so I had one of my crazy beauty blogger days there. I was very happy to find this in the store that I missed out on the first day. They had a lot of variants. I got the sensitive one instead of the cooling one because I am not a fan of the cooling sensation. Plus the sensitive one has no alcohol which wont dry out your skin at all. I think this is exactly the one that Nikkie uses in her videos. The packaging is very bulky and totally not suitable to carry in the original as it is pretty heavy.
Lets start with the texture of this. Its kind of a milky white liquid that goes on smoothly on the skin and at one point gets a little bit tacky which is when you stop massaging it in. It has a strong fragrance like that of any product for men but I dont mind it too much and it anyways goes away after a few seconds. It does moisturize my dry skin patches and the foundation goes better over them.
When this thing gets tacky it kind of makes the foundation stick better. On my skin I dont notice a very big difference between when I use a primer and when I dont so I cannot comment on how much smoother it feels. This is supposed to control oil for a lot of time but I dont agree with that too much. My skin gets oily in the usual time that it always does, I would say about 3-4 hours after which I have to blot it.
My foundation definitely does not get flakey or patchy with this primer so for that aspect I do like it. However, I think this is more suitable for people with dry skin as it will make their look very glowy. Whenever I have used this balm as my primer, it does give my skin a little extra glow.
Overall, I think this is a good find for its price. The quantity is very good and will last you a long time however I dont like this over my Benefit porefessional. I like the smooth feel that the porefessional gives me. I do think though that you should try this out for yourself since everyone has different skin and what works okay kinds for me maybe your holy grail of primers 🙂
PROS:
1. Affordable
2. Does not dry skin out because it has no alcohol
3. Easy to use
4. Makes foundation stick better
5. Did not break me out
6. Hydrates the skin
CONS:
1. Does not control oil too much
My rating – 4/5
See you soon!

It’s so much in rave these days due to Nikkie tutorials 🙂 I haven’t tried it personally but it looks like a great great handy primer option for emergencies 🙂

Yet to try this and I dont think I will. I came across a review somewhere that it doesnot do much for oily skin so I skipped the idea. I dont use primer daily either. Loved your take on this 🙂

Almost all the BBloggers of the world are raving about this hack. Asked my dad if he has it, he said nope. Gotta buy it myself now. 😛

Hahaha its still a lot less expensive than the other primers. If you dont like it, you can gift it to your dad 😛
