Hello Girls
Have you ever had problems blending your makeup properly? Worry no more because Beauty Blenders and their likes are out there to change your makeup game. I have been seeing the Beauty Blender around for ages now! Almost every Youtube makeup tutorial has someone putting their makeup on with a Beauty blender. I wasnt so sure on how much I would like using it so I went for its dupe which is Real Techniques Miracle Complexion sponge. Real Techniques is a brand created by the Pixiwoo sisters and they have amazing makeup brushes. I personally own so many of them. Their blush brush is my favourite to put makeup on. Today I will review the complexion sponge which is now even available in India. Read on to know more 🙂

First of all, this sponge has to be used wet. You need to hold it under running water for a few seconds until it expands in size and then squeeze all the water out and then its ready to use. I have never used it dry, I dont think it would perform very well if used dry. The second thing is with sponges you need to use more product than you normally use because it pretty much absorbs about 40% of what you are using. If you want full coverage of foundation you will need to use two layers. Its always better to build up instead of using too much in the first go.
The sponge has one flat side and one pointed one. The flat side is really nice to blend out the undereye concealer and the rounded/pointed side to apply and blend out the foundation. If you use a sponge to apply your makeup you will always notice that the coverage is a bit low but you can build it up. I really like how smooth and even my foundation/BB cream goes on with this. After applying it, the skin looks a bit shiny for a while because of the wet sponge. That goes away once you set it with powder. The flat side of it is also good to apply powder using the baking method.
The only issue I have with these sponges is that they are such a big pain to clean. Sometimes the foundation stains the surface and you keep having the feeling that it is not clean. After washing it literally takes me atleast 10 minutes to get all of the soap from the inside out. Every single time I squeeze it more of it comes out. This is the main reason that I dont use it too often. Also you are supposed to clean it every day or every other day depending on how often you use it. I also microwave mine for 30 seconds before I start washing it. If you dont clean it properly, you may just be rubbing some bacteria on your face. That is a big NO NO for me.
Overall, I would highly suggest you get this sponge if you have issues with poorly blended foundation or concealer. However, if you are lazy to wash stuff like I am, then you should probably skip it 🙂
PROS:
1. Blends makeup flawlessly
2. Gives a smooth finish
3. Good shape to use under the eyes too
4. Affordable compared to the Beauty Blender
CONS:
1. Absorbs a lot of product
2. Hard to clean.
If you have any tips and tricks you think may help me clean this faster then please leave them below 🙂
Love

There is one video from youtube guru Tati which tells you how to clean makeup sponges in Microwave. That can be helpful. I love this sponge as much as beauty blender. It is called a dupe of beauty blender in case of finish. Great review!!
