Hey Girls
I’m back with another lipstick review for you all. I bought this lipstick a few months ago just because I wanted a new lipstick 😛 No valid reason at all, just impulse girl shopping habits. I never tried this range from Maybelline so I thought I would go for this one. The colour I chose was from the neutral range. These seem to be colour coded depending on what colour family they are. What I think about this lipstick, read on to find out.
Price – 399/- Available for lesser on some sites online
This colour Warm me up is like a neutral pink. It’s a tiny bit lighter than Mac’s Cosmo. I dont think it would suit darker skin tones. It’s mainly for Lighter to Medium skintones. The colour is between pink and brown. It’s perfect for everyday if you have the lips to pull it off.
Now my lips are not in their best shape, I have permanent cracks and lines from Eczema. That is mainly the reason why I dont use lipsticks that are too matte, they dont look very flattering on me. The problem with this lipstick is that it’s not very moisturizing and from the moment I put it on it goes into every single crack and makes my lips look very unhealthy. You can see what I am talking about from my lip swatches at the end of the post. If your lips are cracked and dry, this is not the product/colour for you. You would need tons of lip balm underneath to pull it off.
The lasting power is pretty good. It lasts over 4 hours with light snacks in between. I only reapplied it once in 6 hours because it looked a bit flakey. So I took it off and applied it again.
The colour is a bit glossy. I’m actually surprised that it goes into lip cracks because it does look a bit glossy. It’s actually very similar to Mac Cosmo, they mainly differ in the texture and finish. I would not recommend this if you are above NC 40 as it may wash you out. i’m around NC 35 and it looks like a pinker version of my own skin.
Swatches in Natural light and Artificial light respectively:
I’m not sure if I would try another colour from this range, I am not sure if they have the same texture. I am not a big fan of the texture as it makes my lips look very unhealthy. I would say that you try this out in store before buying it.
PROS:
1. Inexpensive
2. Good lasting power
3. Easily available
4. Smells nice
CONS:
1. Gets into lip lines
2. Colour may wash some out
3. Enhances lip dryness
My rating – 3/5
